Reintroducing Pinotage 🍷

thewineprojectjo.com has been live for 3 weeks now! Many thanks to all those that have taken the leap in helping us reintroduce South African wines to Jordan! The feedback has been awesome and we are super happy to share these great bottles with you.

P.S. To keep up we are now delivering in 2 slots daily, 2-4pm and 5-7pm. You are able to place your order up to 30 mins before the slot.

The ‘South African Grape’ - a 1925 experimental crossing between Cinsaut and Pinot Noir. Pinot Noir originally struggled to grow in South Africa whilst Cinsaut did really well - so an attempt was made to produce a grape that yielded like Cinsaut but tasted like Pinot Noir.

The result was completely unexpected. A very dark grape that produced uniquely bold and tannic wines. Despite this ‘mishap’, Pinotage would go on to become a South African favorite and the country’s second most planted grape.

Dense in color, bold in flavour with notes of plum, tobacco, blackberry and liquorice! Our favourite Pinotages even offer up red fruit flavours such as raspberry and strawberry. Supporting flavours of rooibos, hosin, and tobacco round out this more than interesting varietal. Expect a bold and vibrant red - perfectly paired with meat-based and/or spicier dishes. Check out our Pinotages, including a rose, at the links below.
